how does the ombak surf boat work?
Experience the thrill of surfing with our Ombak surf boat, a traditional double outrigger Indonesian fishing boat powered by a Yamaha outboard. Our boat departs twice daily to the Inside Ekas surf break, with times displayed each evening at the Ombak restaurant. It does not go to the other surf breaks. This complimentary service for Ombak resort guests saves the long paddle out. The boat stays in the channel next to the waves, waiting for all surfers to finish before returning to shore. We do not operate a boat shuttle service, this ensures a safe and enjoyable surfing experience. Our boatman is equipped with a walkie-talkie for communication with the resort in case of any issues. Upon return to the beach, the boatman will radio through, and we send a driver to pick you and your equipment up for a smooth return to Ombak resort.
what if guests want to surf a different break, or even go at different times ?
There are several great surf spots in the Ekas bay area. Of course you are free to surf anywhere you want at any time you choose. we suggest accessing all other breaks from the beach. most guests surf Outside Ekas,or even the beach break by way of a short scooter ride. we have scooters with board racks available to rent in the resort. All surf spots in this area work best at certain tides and wind directions, so best ask one of the staff for local surf spot information.
